🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Lots of blackberry brambles on the West edge of HCC Drive here as it enters Hugh Cosner Park (starting before the sign for the park itself). Simply walk to the edge of the mowed lawn to where the thickets begin and enjoy! Many more deeper in, but it would take a bear to get through that brush...
