🔍 When is it ripe?
Rose hips (swollen seed pods) ripen to red or orange after flowering. Pick when fully coloured and slightly soft. Remove the seeds and hairs inside (irritating). Very high in vitamin C; excellent for syrup, tea, and jelly. Leave some for birds in winter.
A weedy little rose hip tree can be found here by the side of the road it’s rather young and due to its location I wouldn’t be surprised if someone cut it while they took the bushes back
