🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.

Planted as a decorative tree around 1980.
It was treated like a fruit tree for a few years and now it seems (first ripe, tasty apples in 2013) to be a "Strawberry Parfait".
The fruit is Very Early (August 1), great flavor but doesn't store well.
It has several grafts of other varieties (2013)
It currently has a coddling worm problem.
I'm mapping some of the trees in my neighborhood, starting with mine.
