🔍 When is it ripe?
Ripe when fully coloured (white, red, or black by species) and falls at a touch. Spread a sheet and shake the branches. Extremely perishable — process or eat immediately.
There are mulberry trees all along Mt View Ave. They fruit in late April and into May. They are so tasty, and they grow along the sidewalk, so you can pick and eat them while you walk. It's better if you can wash them, but I eat them off the tree all the time. If you don't have a strong stomach, be careful. Even though they are safe for me, they might not be safe for you. Eat at your own risk, watch out for bird poo :p
