🔍 When is it ripe?
Hazel: Green husks turn brown and pull back from the nut; ripe nuts fall freely or shake loose. Gather before squirrels. Dry in a warm place for 1–2 weeks for best flavour. Catkins (male flowers) are edible in early spring.
Himalayan blackberry: Large, fully black berries. Same cues as common blackberry: comes free easily, no red core, dull rather than shiny. Vigorous canes — protect arms when harvesting.
2 hazelnuts trees, small with minimal harvests. big patches of blackberries in northwestern most corner (coming through fence into apple tree) and in alleyway heading north on Lauridsen Blvd
