🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Park on SE Harold and cross the street walking towards the MAX line. There is a dirt path on your right, all along the right side are massive amounts of mature blackberry bushes. More around the fence as well! The fence separates the bushes from the train track. So, despite the thorns, this is a pretty safe foraging spot for kids.
