🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Prolific pear tree, somewhat on the sweet-crisp, but a bit on the astringent side. Fruits earlier than the tar just to its east.
Planted by homeowner at 115 Ely Pl, but on city boulevard, so picking is okay. They have numerous other fruit trees on their boulevard as well as private property. Beautiful yard!
