🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
To identify the Black Chokeberry, or Aronia, I contacted the hort dept at the city and they told me what the plant is.
Serviceberry and Black Chokeberry planted in 2012, serviceberry had no production in 2013
