🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Unbelievably fruitful. Current tenant doesn't want people to pick from tree, but is ok with picking fallen fruit. (wants to feed deer) Land owner doesn't want people using ladders to pick (doesn't want injury), & is considering cutting tree down. Unfortunately most of the fruit breaks when it falls from tree.
