🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
There are four nice big crabapple trees right beside the wharf, and a few more scattered throughout the park/beach area. They're probably a fruiting variety like Dolgo over an ornamental type since they always seem to have lots of fairly big fruit.
