Russian-olive · Sage · Yucca
🗓 Season: September · October · May · June · July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Russian-olive: Small, olive-like, silvery-yellow to reddish fruit. Mealy and sweet-astringent when ripe. Best when fully coloured and slightly soft. Can be dried or used for jam.
Sage: Harvest young, grey-green leaves before or during flowering for best flavour. Woody older leaves are less aromatic. Dry well for year-round use. Flowers are edible as a garnish.
Prolific olive trees on grassy park lawn. Sage throughout wild sections of park. Some yucca too up on higher trails. The land around Chatsworth Canyon is contaminated from Rocketdyne rocket testing and is designated a nuclear hazard zone.
