🔍 When is it ripe?
American persimmon: Must be fully ripe (very soft, almost jelly-like) before eating. Harvest after first frost or when naturally falling. Dark orange to purple when ready. Rich, caramel-sweet flavour.
Orange (Citrus): Fully orange and heavy for its size. Skin yields slightly when squeezed. Fruit will hang on the tree well past colour development without falling — taste-test for sweetness.
Very tall orange tree that has really large oranges, but you would need a ladder to reach them. Look at the trees to the right of the brown dumpster, it’s right up front.
It’s a good idea to call the church and ask their permission before harvesting the oranges there.
