🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
About 15 pear trees covered in fruit. Some are very tall and the fruits are high, others are reachable from the ground. Pick when mature but not ripe. Bring home and store in fridge. Ripen on counter for a few days. Busy schoolyard park on main road.
