🔍 When is it ripe?
Jelly palm: Small, orange to yellow fruits in large bunches near the base of fronds. Ripe when fully orange and falls freely. Flavour is apricot and pineapple; very high in pectin — excellent jelly. Short window in summer.
Loquat: Clusters of orange-yellow fruit; ripe when fully orange with no green, yields to gentle pressure, and comes off the stem with a slight tug. Very sweet and aromatic when right — mealy if overripe. Short shelf life after picking.
A couple of Jelly Palm's at the entrance with orange fruit once a year in the spring. Several Loquat trees as well.
