🔍 When is it ripe?
Round, strawberry-textured red or orange fruit. Flowers and last year's fruit ripen simultaneously. Ripe when deep red and very soft; gritty texture and mild sweet flavour. Good for jam and brandy. Overripe fruit ferments on the tree — slightly intoxicating.
In a planter box on the steps of a small apartment building. Tree overhangs sidewalk, fruit easy to pick from sidewalk.
