🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep red and glossy; stem pulls cleanly. Taste is the best test — sweet and juicy when ripe, still astringent if picked too early.
Not sure what variety, but they are on the small side, very tasty, pit cleans quite quickly (at least when fresh), lots of low-hanging branches. It is on private property, though. Make friends with the people who live there!
