🌳
Wine raspberry
📍 150 Snake Den Rd.
🗓 Season: July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep red, sticky, wine-flavoured. Ripe when dark red and separates easily from the stem. Good raw or for making wine and jam.
Go to the far end of the big field at Weis Ecology Center(formerly Camp Midvale). There are clusters of wineberry bushes on the northwest side along a trail leading into the woods. They normally ripen in mid-July. This is Green Acres land and open to the public.
Wear boots or long pants due to the thorns on these bushes unless you want to just pick around the edges.
