🔍 When is it ripe?
Lavender: Harvest flower spikes when about half the flowers on the spike have opened — maximum oil content. Cut stems long, in the morning. Dry in small bunches upside down in a warm, airy space. Use in baking, tea, and herbal remedies.
Strawberry: Uniformly red with no white or green at the tip or shoulder. Strong strawberry fragrance even from a distance. Cap leaves (calyx) are fresh and green. Completely red flesh inside when cut. Wild strawberries are smaller but more intensely flavoured.
ORGANIC YARD. Parking strip contains strawberries, lavendar and mint. Lemon balm is in the bed to the left of the walkway. Strawberry runners can be cut for to use for plantings. Several varieties are planted. Sunflowers may be available later in the season. If a flower is bagged, please don't take it. If you want to bag a flower, put your name on the bag. ALSO, Spring through Fall I usually have fresh organic duck eggs for people who are struggling to make ends meet. leave a note in my mailbox letting me know how many people are in your family and a number I can text you at when I have eggs for you to pick up. if anyone in the neighborhood has stale organic bread to contribute as duck feed, feel free to leave it on my front porch.
