Prune plum

📍 Barlee Park, 1886 Barlee Rd, Kelowna, BC V1Y 4S2, Canada
Prune plum Public
🗓 Season: August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Dark blue-purple with a silvery bloom. Sweet and dense when ripe; separates from the stone cleanly. Can be left on the tree to partially dry for natural prunes.
There is a plum tree beside the walnut tree in Barlee Park. You aren't allowed to pick from the community garden plots, but this tree is planted in the grass beside the garden. Whether this was purposeful or natural I don't know. Either way, we watched it this summer (2022) to see if someone had claim to it, and no one thinned out the fruit. When we went today there were a lot of plums on the ground or turning overripe on the tree, as well as many picked at by birds still on the tree, so I believe it to be fair game.
