🔍 When is it ripe?
Green outer husk splits and darkens; nuts fall or shake loose. Remove husks immediately and cure for 2 weeks to develop full flavour. Gloves prevent staining.
Young trees. Producing nuts as of summer 2019. They are located along the sidewalk on the left as you walk up the hill. Seek them out among willow and other trees. 8 opposing leaves, one at the tip then look for the nuts. Eat the nuts. The husks are good for natural dye and ink.
