There is indeed a lot of milkweed in all the goldenrod fields in Harkness Park, however milkweed is the only plant Monarch Butterflies can lay their eggs on. Monarchs are currently endangered and their numbers are dwindling fast. Please do NOT pick the milkweed unless you are collecting seeds to spread elsewhere!!
