🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, silvery-speckled red berries in clusters. Ripe when deep red and slightly soft; tart-sweet flavour. Very high in lycopene. Good for jam; note this is an invasive species in North America.
Autumn Olive and low-tannin acorns abound at the right times of year but it's within the zoo, which is owned by the county so gather with discretion. The acorns are by the tigers/wolves. The Autumn-olives are by the cranes.
