🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Pear tree located under one of the many red oaks. Something seems to be eating the pears before they're even close to ripe though. No pears lasted till harvest season. (2016)
