🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep red to purple-black when fully ripe. Falls naturally. Tart-sweet flavour. Spread cloth below and shake. Stains permanently.
There are about 5 Red Mulberry trees along the path within the half mile of the Quarry Ridge Recreation Area. A few low hanging limbs that make easy picking, but the high quantity fruits are high up in the tree out of reach to the average trail user. The trail is usually pretty busy, so look forward to a lot of interested looks as you pick.
