Ripe when fully coloured (white, red, or black by species) and falls at a touch. Spread a sheet and shake the branches. Extremely perishable — process or eat immediately.
Scrubby wild mulberry trees (small as of 2019) at the border between the school grounds and some back yards. Most likely wild. Best to access when school is not in session.
