🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
apple tree approximately across from 532 Kinsley Ave
Providence, RI 02909 (on river side of street). The tree is immediately adjacent to the sidewalk. Fruit was mildly tart, but definitely of eating quality. There was also a tree near here with bright red fruits, potentially crabapple? I couldn't identify them, so didn't eat any.
