🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep blue-purple with a silvery bloom; stem scar (not stem) at the top. Taste is the best test — a truly ripe blueberry is sweet and has no pink flesh inside. Let the cluster go fully blue before picking the whole thing.
All along the Wapack trail - it's 22+ mi. entirety, really- but Watatic has always been my favorite place to pick. Bushes are clustered together & plentiful, so it's easy to get a good haul. The tricky part is getting there before the birds, bears, & fellow hikers pick em clean.
