🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
A whole row of mature European Pears, unsure the specific type, but good eaters and storage pears. Full-size trees, but easily climbable and accessible with picking poles. On public land, in Buckland Park. Way more fruit than ever gets harvested.
