🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
Large mature crabapple tree in greenspace in front of University of Louisville's baseball stadium. First fruits blushed and beginning to fall on my 9/2/2020 visit.
