🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
There are three ornamental crab apple trees right on this corner near Lamson Library. The fruits are slightly smaller than one inch each and appear to be untouched by birds or any other foragers.
