🔍 When is it ripe?
Flowers (white, fragrant clusters) are edible in May and can be eaten raw, fried in batter, or made into syrup. The seeds and green pods are toxic — do not eat. Harvest flowers only.
Couple trees in here. The smooth buckthorn is a fast growing invasive, but useful for dye and purgative/laxative medicine. Almost impossible to get rid of so go nuts, but try not to spread viable seeds.
