Pecan

📍 1401 Wilson Creek Pkwy, McKinney, TX 75069, USA
Pecan Public
🗓 Season: October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
The green husk splits into four sections and turns brown when ripe. Shake branches or wait for fall. Cure in a cool, dry place for 2–3 weeks. Kernels should be full and not shrivelled.
A very plentiful pecan tree looms over the clearing that runs between the park property and the wooded disc golf course. This tree very large and the leaves are distinctly different than those around it. The pecans are small and roundish, about the size of a large acorn. We had good luck with hundreds to harvest on November 7th 2021. It was a beautiful day.
