🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
There are about 12 serviceberry shrubs/trees in this courtyard between the four dorm buildings. Super high producing! This is the serviceberry capital of Ames!
