🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Large pear tree, lots of fruit, overhangs sidewalk, next to house that's going to demolished, tree may be cut down with the house soon (2014-2015). Smallish green-skinned fruits.
