🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Blackberry bush along Cochituate Rail Trail stretch behind Home Depot. First noticed early July 2022. Partially concealed by other foliage, easiest to spot when approaching facing northwest.
Area cleared as of May 2023. Some remnants of bush remain, potential for future regrowth.
