Deep red to purple-black when fully ripe. Falls naturally. Tart-sweet flavour. Spread cloth below and shake. Stains permanently.
A previous post mentioned a boysenberry bush. I went to this location today, and there were lots of mulberry shrubs and trees, but I did not find boysenberry, unless it had hybridized with the mulberries. I went into the vacant lot: on the east side there's a latched gate, no lock. Evidence of homeless people having been there but none there at the present. There is a lot of wild carrot (Queen Anne's lace) and dense mint (I think peppermint, very fragrant but could be a different mint). Be cautious when foraging because there's a lot of discarded junk in the lot. PARKING: meter parking and a lot of free Spot Hero slots. I was here on a Sunday night so meter charges didn't apply. Parking was pretty easy. (Anonymous left the original post but my name is icefalcon)
