🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
There are about ten pear trees loaded with fruit...not sure what variety, but the pears are about 2-3 inches long and are reddish-brown. This is on private property and no one was around when I stopped. I parked in the lot next door. They look like very healthy trees.
