🔍 When is it ripe?
Bright red olive-shaped berries. Very sour when first red — wait until they turn deep red and fall freely or can be shaken off. High in vitamin C. Good for jam, wine, and sauce.
four tall bushes. plant is in good shape. collect the red fruit that has already fallen from the tree (which is a sign of ripeness). best if mashed and cooked up to a paste, but also edible raw. fruit should be dark red and every so slightly soft. the birds are your biggest competition to the fruit.
