Chokecherry
📍 55 Dunsmore Dr, Regina, SK S4R 7G1, Canada
🗓 Season: July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Small clusters ripen from red to very dark purple-black. Intensely astringent until fully dark; seeds and leaves contain hydrocyanic acid — cook or dry before eating in quantity. Best for jams and syrups.
There are a few types of chokecherry here, i picked the large ones. The jelly turned out to be ok, good return of tax payer money ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
