🔍 When is it ripe?
Round, strawberry-textured red or orange fruit. Flowers and last year's fruit ripen simultaneously. Ripe when deep red and very soft; gritty texture and mild sweet flavour. Good for jam and brandy. Overripe fruit ferments on the tree — slightly intoxicating.
Fruiting mature strawberry tree just past the circle outside Reflections Gate entry. Fruiting begins Jan 1, and should remain active through feb to mid March. The leaves in a tea with some of the early flower buds make a great natural sleep aide, anti inflammatory, and anti anxiety brew, and the fruit must be harvested and consumed quickly as it has little to no shelf life, so pick for that salad just before you make it. Otherwise, strawberry tree fruit is used in many baked goods, and it is a powerful antioxidant. Not much is known outside these things.
