🔍 When is it ripe?
Cones turn from green to yellow-brown and open in September–October. Seeds (pine nuts) are large, cream-coloured, and sweet. Collect cones before fully open or shake seeds out onto a tarp. Sun-dry briefly before shelling.

i was here in november and all the seeds i found were too green and starting to grow inside the shell so inedible, but if you get here earlier in the year they should be delicious
the jeffery pines' back smells like vanilla
