🔍 When is it ripe?
Two types: astringent (Hachiya — must be very soft before eating) and non-astringent (Fuyu — eaten crisp). Both are orange when ripe. Hachiya: ripe when feels like a water balloon. Fuyu: ripe when orange, firm, and sweet even when crisp.

"Oakland Cemetery is very protective of this tree. We got in a lot of trouble with them last year after someone else broke a branch on this tree while picking it, and us (as Atlanta's fruit foraging organization) obviously must be the ones responsible."
