🔍 When is it ripe?
Turns red, yellow, or purple depending on variety; flesh gives slightly under thumb pressure. Taste-test — ripe ones are sweet-tart with little astringency. Drops easily from stem when gently twisted.
A very delicious cherry plum tree behind the Holiday inn Express. If you go in the middle of the day you can likely park right under it. It's being a bit overgrown by other trees but fruiting branches stick out plenty far enough, probably more if you do a bit of searching. Please be nice to the large number of honey bees enjoying the fallen plums on the ground, they won't bother you if you don't hurt them. I found this tree on Sept 1st and it is at peak ripeness, lots fallen, lots left to fall. Absolutely amazing flavor!
