Black mulberry

📍 44 Finch Ave, Chatham, ON N7L 1H6, Canada
Black mulberry Public
🗓 Season: June · July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
Behind the court buildings there are a bunch of soccer fields. Behind the soccer fields are a lot of mulberry trees. Probably 10 or 20, the kids used to love running to the trees to eat as many as they could on breaks in the game.
