🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green toward yellow; seeds turn brown when ripe. Fruit separates from the spur with a gentle upward twist. Aroma develops near the base. Wild Malus fruit is often small and tart — excellent for cider and jelly.
7/26/13: In the courtyard stands a grand crabapple tree. I made a pie with them this evening and they taste great! As of now it's still bearing a lot of fruit. Tree seems healthy.
