🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
All along the east side of Sherrill Blvd near Mabry Hood Rd are huge blackberry bushes. I have seen several different people park their cars and wade in and pick them. Check around June 14th to July 1st.
