Pomegranate

📍 Mondavi Center, University of California-Davis, CA 95616, USA
Pomegranate Public
🗓 Season: September · October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Skin turns from pale orange to deep red; fruit becomes angular and the blossom end flattens slightly as arils expand. Tap the skin — a ripe pomegranate sounds metallic. Heavy for its size. A slight crack at the shoulder is fine. Do not wait for it to fall.
Planted along the pathways in Vanderhoef Quad. These pomegranates are useless and not appropriate for food picking because they are ornamentals.
