📍 Bahnhofunterführung N 20, 4600 Olten, Switzerland
Black locustelderberry
🗓 Season: May · August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Black locust: Flowers (white, fragrant clusters) are edible in May and can be eaten raw, fried in batter, or made into syrup. The seeds and green pods are toxic — do not eat. Harvest flowers only.
elderberry: Dark blue-black clusters when ripe. Cook thoroughly before eating — raw berries are mildly toxic. Ripe when all berries are dark and clusters hang downward.
Several black locust and elderberry trees growing along the river north of the bridge. The black locust blossoms can be harvested very easily from the street above.
