🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Blackberries on fenceline separating dairy farm from neighborhood green space. 2011 was great harvest. 2012 was ok to good harvest. Early 2013 dairy did some pruning; still plenty of plants but not as wonderful as previously.
