🗓 Season: August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Bright red olive-shaped berries. Very sour when first red — wait until they turn deep red and fall freely or can be shaken off. High in vitamin C. Good for jam, wine, and sauce.
Two young red-fruited cornelian cherries and one yellow one in sidewalk strip next to Maranatha church. Fruit is tart as of first week of August. Not sure if they sweeten further or if they are ripe now.
